Beach cleaning @ Changi
Time to get serious. I woke up early today to rush down to our school and after a short briefing we were heading out. When we reached there we all got a glove and a rubbish bag to a pair. Joshua and I also agreed to compete with Jian Kai and Bin Hui to see whose bag was heavier at the end of the day. We went to the grass patch where people were camping to pick up trash. I had a shock. There were hundreds of cigarette buds left on the grass and all along I thought beaches were smoke-free. Soon after, we went to the water's edge to try our luck and we found a shoe! I think it is definitely weighed about one kilo. We saw lots of rubbish at the water's edge and took a stick and try to reel it in. Then, i saw a crowd nearby and approached it and heard someone said he stepped on what look like a millipede to me. The millipede was still squirming on the ground and was so disgusting. Then, Jian Kai and Bin Hui approached us saying that their bag broke so they had to team up with us. Jian Kai found a baby octopus and stepped on it until it died, so violent, and kept saying it wasnt a octopus. We were getting tired then so I rested for a while with Jian Kai until Joshua found a flat worm. I think one of them flipped in halfway so it was struggling to get up until the wave came and knocked it over completely. We realished it was almost time so we headed back.

ReplyDeleteHey nice blog though but what infuriated me was the part about the animals. I would like to highlight a few points. Firstly, that is obviously not a millipede. Next, i am just curious but why did you not stop Jian Kai's actions. I am sure that the teacher has clearly briefed on not to touch any marine creatures, let alone end their life. Remember, we were there to help clean the beach, not kill it's inhabitants.
