How do you know who your friends are?

What are friends?

Friends are a group of people whom you have the same interest as them. As the time goes by, friendship will develop and wonderful things between friends can happen. They care for each other, play together and share times of happiness, as well as sorrow with you leaving a strong impression of them throughout your entire life.

If there is a group of people who shares a common interest with you and always 'hang out' with you, are they your true friends? It is not necessarily true, as they may be fair-weathered friends. They will leave you immediately should you meet a setback. So, how do you know who your friends are?

In my opinion, there are a few ways to find out. Firstly and most obvious, they should share a common interest with you or there is a similar attribute in your character. Also, they should be your friends for who you are and not what you have, for example money or fame. During tough times, true friends will stick up for you and try their best to comfort us. Friends will support each other through thick and thin and try their best to give care, courage and hope to each other.
However, as friends do not mean that they have absolute agreement over everything. As different people, we definitely ought to have different viewpoints over certain issues and arguments would be inevitable. However, we cannot let such a minor setback allow us to break our friendship as friendship will become one of the most important things in life for us. We should swallow our pride and apologize to our friends when arguments happen as ruining a friendship over a minor argument is not worth it. Do not under estimate the power of friendship as it will help us during our daily lives.
